Almaly
An excellent team of baristas, their own roastery, and one of the most striking rooms in the city.

I live here and I drink espresso everywhere. This page is my own log: what I ordered, when I was there, and what I would order again. Most places listed are specialty — they roast their own beans or buy from people who do — and where a place is not specialty, I say so.
Scores are for espresso only, on a 0–10 scale. How I rate.
Been there, drank there, scored it.

Go for the Soviet design and the pastries. A very good roastery, and plenty of space.

One of the earliest specialty coffee places in the city, with their own roastery. South Korean roots, so you might as well try the fried chicken too.

A top roaster, and one a lot of locals rate highly.

The most stable batch brew in the city, and an unbeatable quality-to-price ratio for me. It sits inside Make Love Pizza — the pizza is a local favourite in its own right.
A local legend on a walkable street: an enclosed yard, their own roastery, and a shop.
Specialty places I have visited but am not putting a number on yet.
A local favourite — a Dutch institution with pastries. Not specialty, but the highest quality beans.

Go for the handmade sweets. The Kabanbai Batyr spot is the petitest coffee place you will find.

Popular with visitors for reasons other than the coffee. Listed honestly.

A local chain where the breakfasts are a bargain. Go for the teas and the matcha.
Not specialty — I rarely drink the coffee here myself.
