An hour on well-kept horses in the hills by the Park of the First President — close enough to treat as a city outing, with a stretch of the route open for a canter.

I have not been. This is from the same friend as the Almaty Hills and Western KZ notes — she rode here, rates the horses and the organisation, and put the views just short of Almaty Hills. The price is hers to recall; check it when you book.

Horse Explorers is up by the Park of the First President — in the hills, but only just outside the city, and an easy Yandex Go from the south of town. That location is most of the point: it is a ride you can do on a normal afternoon without committing to a drive.
An hour is around 8,000–9,000 ₸. The horses are well kept and the operation is organised — helmets are handed out, not produced only if you ask. My friend rode here and at Almaty Hills and gave Almaty Hills the views by a small margin; the horses and the handling she rated the same.
Two things set it apart from Almaty Hills. There is an English-speaking instructor, which makes it one of the easier rides here to arrange if you have no Russian. And the route has a stretch where you are allowed to canter, where Almaty Hills keeps you at a walk the whole way.
Her summary: not mind-blowing, not worth a special trip from far away, but a very good option for a ride close to the city — and on that, it is hard to argue.
